The Week Ahead: 15th - 19th April

This week our MEPs are in Strasbourg for the final time this mandate before campaigning for the European elections at the end of May. They will be debating the outcome of last week's Brexit European Council, the Future of Europe with the Latvian Prime Minister, as well as voting on important legislation, including new online rules that will set a one-hour time limit for internet platforms to remove terror-related content from their sites. Read below for more details.

MEPs back one hour limit to remove online terrorist content

Internet platforms which host terrorist content would have one hour to remove it under new EU-wide legislation backed by MEPs today. Fines of up to four per-cent of turnover could be imposed on repeat offenders who fail to remove terrorist posts under proposals being led through the European Parliament by ECR MEP Daniel Dalton.

OUR EVENTS

The Europe - Muslim World Democracy Forum

As a number of Muslim majority states make the democratic transition, there is a need for increased political, economic and civic engagement with other nations around the world, including in Europe. Facing significant regional and global challenges, it is necessary for nations to work together, strengthening shared values, and building lasting relationships as a catalyst for future action. Now more than ever, it is necessary for democracies to come together and discuss their shared values and mutual interests in order to strengthen the democratic order and to promote democracy and stability in the face of the resurgence of authoritarianism and to overcome the tension and polarization between the Muslim World and Western nations.
