EU-Ukraine summit

The 16th EU-Ukraine summit will take place, with the Association Agreement and a trade agreement being the main topics for discussion. Pawel Kowal is the chairman of the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with Ukraine. He wants to see Ukraine’s future firmly anchored to the EU.

Summit: Monday

Emissions trading – stop the clock

MEPs in the environment committee will vote on whether to ‘stop the clock’ on the inclusion of aviation in the Emissions Trading Scheme whilst efforts are made to find a binding global agreement on reducing aviation emissions. ECR Shadow rapporteur Martin Callanan wants these proposal to be adopted swiftly, believing that the EU must cooperate internationally to find an agreement, but must not act unilaterally by imposing its ETS on global airline companies.

Vote: Tuesday @ 09.30

Capital Requirements

MEPs and national governments will meet again in a bid to reach agreement on the Capital Requirements Directive. ECR Shadow Rapporteur Vicky Ford will represent the group at the meeting.

Meeting: Wednesday

Latvia and the Euro

Latvian finance minister Andris Vilks will discuss Latvia’s application to join the euro with MEPs from the economics committee. ECR Latvian member Roberts Zile MEP is one of Mr Vilks’ coalition partners and he believes that, given the specific circumstances facing Latvia, Euro membership is still in its interests.

Debate: Tuesday @ 09.00
