ECR at 78 MEPs for term start

The ECR Group now has 78 members from 20 parties and 18 countries, making the ECR Group the fourth largest parliamentary group.

In terms of top group positions, Nicola Procaccini of Fratelli d’Italia and Joachim Brudziński of the PiS party were elected co-presidents at our inaugural meeting last week. The vice-presidents are Assita Kanko from Belgium, Alexandr Vondra from the Czech Republic and Charlie Weimers from Sweden. The co-treasurers are Denis Nesci from Italy and Kosma Złotowski from Poland.

The ECR Group will continue its mission to be the conservative and constructive voice in the Union and to become one of the main political forces in the European Parliament. The among the ECR Group’s aims is to keep the European Union strong and united by increasing accountability and respect for national sovereignty and subsidiarity in Brussels’ relationship with Europe’s governments and citizens. The ECR will give unwavering support to Ukraine and promote common defence in cooperation with NATO, fight illegal migration, cut red tape and safeguard jobs, innovation and competitiveness
