European Conservatives and Reformists Group Chairman Syed Kamall responded to today’s shootings at Charlie Hebdo in Paris,

Speaking after today’s shootings at Charlie Hebdo in Paris, European Conservatives and Reformists Group Chairman Syed Kamall said:

“This is a shocking attack. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those murdered, the workers at Charlie Hebdo, and the people of Paris.

“Freedom of the media and freedom of speech should include the right to offend and the right to be offended, but that right must never manifest itself in violence and murder. Right across the countries of the European Union we all stand together with the people of Paris as they confront those who seek to undermine our core freedoms.

“We must not give in to people who seek to achieve their aims through terror.”
