ECR Group Co-Chairmen Prof Ryszard Legutko (MEP, PiS, Poland) and Nicola Procaccini (MEP, FdI, Italy) congratulate Giorgia Meloni on her re-election as President of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party (ECR Party).

Legutko and Procaccini also congratulated re-elected Vice-Presidents Jorge Buxadé (MEP, Vox, Spain) and Radosław Fogiel (Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, PiS, Poland).

Prof Legutko said: “Giorgia Meloni has done an extraordinary job in recent years to enlarge and strengthen the European family of conservative parties. We are very pleased that she wishes to continue her responsible role as leader. We are convinced that under her leadership, the Conservative family has an answer to the major concerns of the day, including dealing with the Russian aggressor, the still unresolved issue of irregular immigration, and an ecological transition that is less ideologically left-wing and more responsive to citizens’ concerns. In all of this, Giorgia Meloni has great credibility”.

Mr Procaccini said: “I warmly congratulate Giorgia Meloni. In her, European Conservatives have a strong leader who has made the ECR Party a force to be reckoned with in the European Union. I am convinced that she will successfully lead the party into the European elections and make our political family a leading force in the European Parliament. The next European elections will bring a change of course, with Conservatives taking a resolutely pragmatic approach, rejecting the ideologies of the left and bringing politics back down to earth”.
