In a speech on the outcomes of May’s European Council meeting, in which EU leaders discussed high energy prices and the problem of tax evasion, Martin Callanan MEP warned that EU leaders should not see EU cooperation on tax evasion as an excuse to harmonise tax policy, which would only make much of Europe more uncompetitive. He also welcomed the EU’s efforts to take action on energy prices, but called for concrete action.
