The ECR commends the continued support in response to the Syrian refugee crisis

The European Conservatives and Reformists Group in the European Parliament strongly endorses the continuation of support to refugees in response to the Syrian crisis in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.

After the approval of €585 million for Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries by the European Parliament, ECR Shadow-rapporteur Bogdan Rzońca MEP stated:

“It is of utmost importance to work on responding to the needs of refugees as close to their home country as possible.

“The EU funds will help trusted humanitarian partners, such as the International Federation of the Red Cross or the Red Crescent and UNICEF in securing better living conditions for those who are in need.

“The support from the European Union goes directly to pre-selected humanitarian partners so as to ensure that the money will be spent according to its purpose. It is important to stress that humanitarian aid for Turkey goes directly to the humanitarian partners without any involvement from state administration.”
