The European Conservatives and Reformists Group welcomes the fact that the current Common Agricultural Policy rules will remain in place for two more years until the end of 2022.
“During the pandemic, farmers have shown the EU can count on a reliable food supply. Therefore, stability for the agricultural sector is crucial”, states ECR Shadow Rapporteur Mazaly Aguilar MEP, after a political agreement between Parliament, Council and Commission was reached on 30th June.
Ms Aguilar continued:
“A strong Common Agricultural Policy is needed - now more than ever. The agricultural sector in Europe is crucially important for the continuous food supply for European citizens and has further proven its value during the COVID-19 crisis. Therefore, we welcome the fact that stability for the agricultural sector has been ensured. It is now essential that a strong CAP budget will be agreed upon in the new MFF.”
