European Council
The parliament will debate the forthcoming European summit on the 20th October, which intends to discuss migration, trade and Russia. ECR chair Syed Kamall will speak in the debate.

Situation in Calais
ECR MEPs have added a debate on the current situation in Calais, and especially the impact that the migrant camps have had on the safety and security of hauliers passing through. Dutch ECR MEP Peter Van Dalen will lead in the debate.

Sakharov Prize
The parliament’s human rights subcommittee will be presented with the groups’ candidates for this year’s Sakharov Prize for freedom of thought. The ECR has nominated, and human rights spokesman Mark Demesmaeker will advocate, Mustafa Dzhemilev for the prize. He was nominated in the group by MEP Anna Fotyga. He is the recognized leader of the Crimean Tatar National Movement and a former Soviet dissident.

Syria
The parliament will debate and pass a resolution on the situation in Syria. ECR Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Tannock will speak in the debate and strongly condemn any deliberate attacks against civilians.
