ECR Group stands with farmers
On Wednesday evening, European Commissioner for Agriculture Christophe Hansen will appear before the Parliament’s Agriculture Committee for an exchange of views on the Commission’s vision for agriculture and food. As part of this vision, the Commission is proposing to recognise agriculture as a strategic sector. The ECR Group welcomes this shift in perspective, which finally acknowledges the vital role of farmers in protecting nature and ensuring food security. Financial support for farmers should be directed toward those who actively care for the land and produce food. During the discussion, the ECR Group will reiterate to Commissioner Hansen that in today’s uncertain economic climate, our priorities must be security and competitiveness— including food security and the competitiveness of European agriculture. Farmers must be guaranteed a fair income; they need clearer rules and less paperwork.

Event: Rooted Principles, Stronger Future in Subiaco (Italy)
On Thursday and Friday in Subiaco, Italy —a place of deep spiritual and cultural significance for Europe—ECR MEPs will gather for the second edition of the event “Rooted Principles, Stronger Future: The Heritage of Saint Benedict in the Values of European Conservatism” to discuss and reaffirm the core values of their political family. Subiaco is home to the Sanctuary of the Sacro Speco (Holy Cave), one of the most significant places of Benedictine spirituality dating back almost a thousand years. During the two-day event, ECR MEPs will take part in the yearly town celebrations in honour of Benedict, Saint Patron of Europe. In a time when Europe’s cultural and intellectual foundations are increasingly challenged by radical ideological movements, the ECR Group will stand strong in reaffirming the enduring values that have shaped European civilisation.

Organised in collaboration with the European Brain Council, this event will focus on the establishment of national brain health plans to address the burden of brain disorders—both neurological and mental. This event aims to highlight recent developments in the establishment of national brain strategies in Europe and beyond, in line with the WHO’s call for Member States to commit to addressing the burden of brain disorders in a cohesive manner by 2030-2031. It will serve as a platform for showcasing success stories and best practices, fostering knowledge exchange, encouraging brainstorming, and facilitating the development of additional brain health plans.

Professor Halperin-Kaddari is a renowned Israeli legal scholar specialising in international women’s rights. She is also the author of The Dinah Project, which has been instrumental in advocating for the recognition of and justice for victims of sexual violence in conflict.
