ECR Youth Congress

The Polish Delegation of the ECR Group is co-organising the next edition of the ECR Youth Congress, taking place in Augustów on 19–20 September 2026. The Congress will bring together young people for discussions on the political and social challenges shaping the future of Poland and Europe. It will provide a platform to share perspectives and engage in open dialogue. Beyond this, the Congress will offer an opportunity for young participants to exchange experiences, build connections, and engage with like-minded peers from across Europe.

External Parliamentary Activities

The week of 21 September is dedicated to external parliamentary activities, including work in Members’ constituencies and missions outside Parliament’s usual places of work.

Several ECR MEPs will participate in committee missions:

• Public Health Committee – Athens and Tripoli, Greece: The mission will focus on EU strategic autonomy and resilience in medicines and life sciences, as well as equitable access to healthcare. ECR MEP Michele Picaro will participate.

• Agriculture Committee – Occitanie, France: The mission will examine water management, new farming techniques and market opportunities. ECR MEP Claudiu-Richard Târziu will participate.

• Transport Committee – Greenland: The mission will focus on transport connectivity and tourism development. ECR MEP Roberts Zīle will participate.

• Public Health Committee – European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC): The mission will gather information on the Agency’s current and planned activities. ECR MEP Aurelijus Veryga will participate.

• Petitions Committee – Athens and Larissa, Greece: The mission will assess progress since the 2023 Tempi train accident, focusing on railway safety and infrastructure. ECR MEPs Kosma Złotowski and Emmanouil Fragkos will participate.

• Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee – Helsinki, Finland: The fact-finding visit will assess the Finnish model of civil protection and internal security preparedness. ECR MEPs Nicola Bartůšek and Sebastian Tynkkynen will participate.

ECR MEPs to attend the 22nd EU-Albania Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) meeting in Tirana

On Monday and Tuesday, ECR MEPs Chiara Gemma, Vice-Chair to the EU-Albania SAPC, and Cristian Terheș will take part in the committee’s 22nd meeting Tirana. Albania has made significant progress in its accession negotiations and has now opened all six negotiating clusters. The ECR Group supports the country’s European path and recognises it as an important partner for regional security and stability, including through its role as a NATO member. At the same time, further progress towards EU membership must be based on the effective implementation of reforms. Particular attention should be given to strengthening the rule of law, ensuring that adopted legislation is properly implemented and reducing political polarisation. The pace of accession should ultimately reflect the quality and delivery of reforms.

ECR MEP Geadis to attend EU-Jordan interparliamentary meeting

On Tuesday and Wednesday, ECR MEP Geadis Geadi will take part in the 13th EU-Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Interparliamentary Meeting in Amman as part of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries. The visit will provide an opportunity to discuss EU-Jordan relations and regional developments.
