There will be committees and other events in the Parliament and the European Council meets on Thursday and Friday. Read on for more details.

Extraordinary session to debate Green New Deal

On Wednesday the European Commission is expected to publish a raft of new environmental and climate laws as part of the ‘Green New Deal’ promised by President von der Leyen. A special plenary session will be convened by Parliament in Brussels for the same afternoon.

ECR MEPs believe that the Green Deal must deliver policies that are credible, science-based and achievable, enabling all Member States to follow the same low carbon reduction pathway. We believe this can only happen if there is unanimity in the Council, as has been the case previously. In addition, we also need to ensure sufficient support is provided for our businesses and communities who will be the most affected by the ramping up of climate ambitions and the subsequent dramatic shifts in our economies.
