Tuesday 14 July @ 18:00 CET
On Tuesday, ECR Vice-Chair Gheorghe Piperea is organizing the event “Threads of Heritage: The Romanian Blouse Between Tradition and Contemporary Design”, a cultural evening gathering Members of the European Parliament from across the political spectrum, representatives of the European institutions, ambassadors, members of the Romanian academic community, and those devoted to preserving and promoting Romania’s cultural heritage.
In a setting that transcends political and institutional boundaries, this gathering seeks to celebrate the values that unite us: respect for tradition, cultural diversity, and the shared European conviction that heritage is not merely a reflection of the past, but a living source of inspiration for the future. The event will offer a glimpse into the story of the Ia Românească - a symbol of identity, artistry, and continuity, woven through generations and carried forward by contemporary creators.
The evening will open the dialogue between past and present: authentic heritage pieces from patrimonial collections displayed alongside contemporary creations by Romanian designers who continue to draw inspiration from the timeless beauty of traditional Romanian dress.
Accompanied by live music rooted in Romanian folk tradition and reimagined for contemporary audiences, the event seeks to celebrate not only a national symbol, but also the enduring vitality of Europe’s cultural diversity.
