The economics committee will vote on proposals for Bank Structural Reform, and ECR shadow rapporteur Syed Kamall is looking for a proposal that prevents taxpayers from having to bail out banks in the future, by taking a risk-based approach to issues like ring-fencing risky trading activities from retail operations. Dr Kamall’s priority has been to tackle the issue where a bank is too-big-to-fail and is working with the EPP and ALDE groups to ensure a sensible proposal is taken forward to negotiations with EU governments.
