The European Parliament's Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development has elected ECR MEP Veronika Vrecionová as its chair.
MEP Veronika Vrecionová as its chair. Vrecionová is a member of the Czech ruling ODS party and was elected to the European Parliament for the first time in 2019. She has been particularly active in the field of rural development and has made a name for herself in the area of reconciling the management of agricultural land with nature and animal protection. She is also a member of the Bureau of the ECR Group.
Following her election, Vrecionová said:
“We are starting a new parliamentary term, I’m very pleased with the trust my colleagues have placed in me and I’m looking forward to constructive debates. I will work hard to improve conditions for family farmers and small and medium-sized farmers. We have to listen to them, we have to cut red tape massively and the whole Common Agricultural Policy has to reflect the fact that we have started the accession dialogue with Ukraine. Personally, I will focus on animal welfare.”
ECR co-chairmen Nicola Procaccini and Joachim Brudziński congratulated Vrecionová on her appointment.
