ECR Group Co-Chairs congratulate Latvian member parties on remarkable election results

The ECR Co-Chairs have congratulated the Group’s Latvian political partners following the parliamentary election, with United List achieving a historic result and National Alliance maintaining a solid level of support.

The ECR Group particularly welcomes the clear message sent by Latvian voters in favour of the country’s firm place in the West, greater security and policies that support economic growth and prosperity.

United List, Apvienotais Saraksts, AS, achieved the strongest result of any political force in a Latvian parliamentary election since the Baltic country’s independence. The alliance, which brings together several political parties, is represented in the European Parliament by ECR MEP Reinis Pozņaks.

ECR Group Co-Chair Nicola Procaccini said:

“Latvian voters have sent a clear message that their country’s future lies firmly in the West. I warmly congratulate Andris Kulbergs and United List on this extraordinary and historic result. Andris led an exemplary, disciplined and convincing campaign that spoke directly to people’s expectations – security, economic growth and better prospects for Latvian citizens. This result can only be described as truly exceptional.”

ECR Group Co-Chair Patryk Jaki said:

“Andris Kulbergs has achieved something truly remarkable because people clearly trust him. He is direct, approachable and close to the everyday concerns of Latvian citizens. Politics needs leaders who listen, speak plainly and remain connected to the people they represent. Andris has shown that this closeness to people can go hand in hand with an unequivocal commitment to Latvia’s place in the West.”

National Alliance, Nacionālā apvienība “Visu Latvijai!” – “Tēvzemei un Brīvībai/LNNK”, achieved a solid and respectable result, broadly maintaining its previous level of support. The party is represented in the European Parliament by ECR MEP and European Parliament Vice-President Roberts Zīle and ECR MEP Rihards Kols.

Procaccini said:

“I also warmly congratulate Ilze Indriksone and our friends in National Alliance on a solid and very respectable result. They have remained consistent in defending Latvia’s national identity, strengthening its security and calling for more effective migration rules, while standing up for families and local communities. That clarity of purpose has earned them lasting support, and National Alliance will continue to carry an important responsibility in shaping Latvia’s future.”

Jaki said:

“My congratulations also go to Ilze Indriksone and the whole National Alliance team. Voters know what this party stands for and know that it does not abandon its convictions when circumstances become difficult. Whether on migration, national identity or the security of the country, that consistency builds trust. National Alliance has once again shown how deeply rooted it remains in Latvian society.”
