Consequences of Russian asymmetric warfare: Ukraine should join NATO and EU as soon as possible

In today’s debate on Ukraine with EU Commissioner Dombrovskis and Swedish Minister Roswall in Strasbourg, ECR Foreign Affairs Coordinator Anna Fotyga explained that “the blowing up of the Nova Kahkova dam is once more showing the evil face of the Russian Federation”.

Ms Fotyga praised the EU’s aid to Ukraine so far, but said the course of the war showed that “everyone should step up efforts to help Ukraine, because much more is needed to assist the country to really decisively win the war.”

“The blowing up of Nova Kahkova not only means the suffering of people, but it also shows the completely new method of warfare of the Russian Federation, clearly asymmetric methods,” Fotyga said. “We must respond positively to the will of the Ukrainian people and do everything possible to ensure that the country joins NATO and the EU as soon as possible. It is not just about their security, it is about the security of all of us,” Fotyga concluded.
