The opinion of ECR MEP Jadwiga Wiśniewska on shaping the digital education policy was adopted in the form of amendments during the last meeting of the EP Women's Rights and Gender Equality Committee (FEMM).

According to Ms. Wiśniewska, girls’ digital skills should be improved, their self-confidence should be fostered and attractive and creative ways of presenting female role models with a successful career in the fields of information communication technology (ICT) and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) should be sought after.

The Commission and the Member States were called upon to address the digital gender gap when developing digital education policies and to ensure that such policies are inclusive, non-discriminatory and contribute to gender equality. The opinion of the FEMM committee also called for the promotion of digital competences among girls and stressed that they should be encouraged to invest in digital skills and choose career paths in ICT and STEM.
