The European Conservatives and Reformists Group in the European Parliament congratulates Keiko Fujimori on her victory in Peru’s presidential election.
The result confirms a broader conservative shift in Latin America once again. Across the region, citizens are turning away from socialist policies, demanding security and freedom, and placing their trust in conservative governments that address their concerns.
ECR Co-Chairman Nicola Procaccini said:
“I congratulate Keiko Fujimori on her victory and wish her every success in strengthening Peru’s democratic stability and international partnerships. Her election is an important moment for relations between Europe and Latin America, and I look forward to closer cooperation with Peru as a friend and strategic partner.”
ECR Co-Chairman Patryk Jaki said:
“Congratulations to Keiko Fujimori on her historic victory. This outcome signals that many Peruvians want to regain security and stability and are seeking a clear change of direction after years of failed left-wing policies. I wish her all the best and strength for the important task ahead.”
Carlo Fidanza, Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly, said:
“I warmly congratulate Keiko Fujimori on her victory. Peru now joins the growing number of Latin American countries choosing freedom, security and national renewal after the failures of socialism. This is an encouraging signal for all those who defend liberty, the rule of law and the fight against organised crime.”
The ECR Group wishes Fujimori every success and believes that strengthening cooperation with Peru is essential, as is deepening Europe’s broader strategic partnership with South America, given that it is a natural, like-minded partner bound to Europe by history, culture and shared values.
