ECR Group welcomes Giuseppe Milazzo and Lars Patrick Berg as new members; Croatian Ladislav Ilčić replaces MEP Ruža Tomašić
In today’s Group meeting, Italian MEP Giuseppe Milazzo, who moved from the European People’s Party (EPP), and formerly non-attached German MEP Lars Patrick Berg joined the European Conservatives and Reformists.
The two group Co-Chairmen Ryszard Legutko and Raffaele Fitto also bade farewell to Croatian MEP Ruža Tomašić who, having joined the ECR Group in 2013, is now retiring. Mr Fitto and Prof Legutko expressed their gratitude and appreciation for her work and for setting a great example in representing the interests of her country and her community over the past years.
In welcoming the three new ECR MEPs, the Co-Chairmen noted that the new arrivals would further strengthen the Group’s centre-right profile.
The ECR Group now has 63 members from 15 EU Member States.
The ECR Group is a centre-right political group in the European Parliament, founded in 2009 with a common cause to reform the EU based on eurorealism, respecting the sovereignty of nations, and focusing on economic recovery, growth and competitiveness. It aims to voice a sensible middle-way between “more Europe” and “no Europe”. The Group wants to rebuild the EU as a community of sovereign European states and as a Europe of mutual respect, cooperation and solidarity.
