ECR MEPs Kanko and Mularczyk: EU-US cooperation is essential on global challenges

Following the publication of the Joint Statement adopted at the 91st EU-US Inter-Parliamentary Meeting of the Transatlantic Legislators’ Dialogue in Nicosia, ECR MEPs Assita Kanko and Arkadiusz Mularczyk, Members of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with the United States, welcomed the renewed commitment to practical EU-US cooperation on global challenges, foreign interference, stability in the Middle East, economic security and critical raw materials.

Following the conclusion of the mission and the publication of the Joint Statement, ECR MEP Assita Kanko said:

“Foreign information manipulation and interference are direct threats to our societies, our institutions and our security. Europe and the United States should cooperate closely to protect critical digital infrastructure and public trust.”

“The Middle East needs de-escalation, humanitarian access and a serious effort to prevent further instability. Freedom of navigation, non-proliferation and regional stability are vital interests for Europe, the United States and our partners in the region.”

ECR MEP Arkadiusz Mularczyk said:

“Europe and the United States remain indispensable partners. Parliamentary dialogue helps keep this relationship anchored in shared interests, mutual respect and practical cooperation.”

“Critical minerals and secure supply chains are now central to economic security, technological innovation, energy resilience and defence capabilities. Europe and the United States should reduce dangerous dependencies together and strengthen cooperation with trusted partners.”

The ECR Members stressed that the transatlantic partnership should be practical, honest and result-oriented. Sustained parliamentary engagement remains essential to strengthen security, resilience and prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic.
