Tertsch: CBAM “a pretty risky social experiment”

In reaction to the adoption of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) by a majority in the European Parliament, ECR Shadow Rapporteur Hermann Tertsch said:

“For us, it became more and more clear that we had to vote against it. The ECR Group are concerned that consumer prices will now rise even further. You can fight climate change, yes, but now is not the time for extreme demands.

“We have exploding inflation at the moment. So the whole thing is a pretty risky social experiment, with no convincing safeguards for industry and citizens.”
