Final Brexit vote and farewell to our British MEPs

Early on Wednesday evening the European Parliament is set to endorse the UK Withdrawal Agreement, which will confirm the UK’s exit from the EU on Friday, 31st January. The vote on the Agreement will take place following a debate, before the Parliament President marks the moment with a short address to the plenary to acknowledge the UK’s exit.

75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz

This Monday, 27th January, marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Parliament will hold a debate following the opening of the session on Wednesday.

EU-Vietnam Trade Conference

On Tuesday ECR MEP and Parliament’s rapporteur on the EU-Vietnam trade deal, Geert Bourgeois, hosts a conference in advance of the vote in parliament next month. EU Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan and Tran Quoc Khanh, the Vice Minister of International Trade of Vietnam, will both speak at the event.

Common charger for mobile phones

During the plenary session MEPs will vote on a resolution calling for further efforts towards achieving an industry standard common charger for mobile phones. The ECR group supports measures that would deliver a single charger for consumers, which will save them money, increase convenience and promote more sustainable practices.
