11 November 2013
11th – 14th November 2013. Budgets for 2014-2020 and 2014. EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.
Budgets for 2014-2020 and 2014
The parliament’s Budgets committee will vote on the seven-year budget of the EU following months of negotiations between MEPs and national governments. The ECR Group believes the agreement reached in February – which will see the budget reduced with more support for competitiveness and ‘new’ Member States – was a reasonable compromise. Budgets spokesman Richard Ashworth supports the agreement and wants to see the parliament finally adopt the MFF next week in Strasbourg.
This week national governments and parliament’s negotiators will also seek to agree a deal on the 2014 annual budget. Richard Ashworth supports the general position taken by national governments to trim back the budget, but he does not wish to see that come at the expense of lines aimed at promoting growth and competitiveness.
