Flexibility needed for 2030 energy targets
On Wednesday MEPs will vote on a series of proposals that seek to set the EU’s energy targets for efficiency and renewables. The ECR Group support the objectives of the Paris Agreement and are seeking a framework at EU level that allows Member States the flexibility to pursue their own cost effective emission reduction pathways.

Commission’s proposed policy on plastics
The ECR Group has successfully pressed for the European Commission’s strategy for reducing plastic waste, which is being unveiled on Tuesday, to be presented to the Parliament for debate on Wednesday. Environment Co-ordinator Julie Girling will lead the Group’s response.

New export controls for goods for cyber-surveillance technologies
New proposals to enhance export controls on dual use items – goods, software and technology that can be used for both civilian and military applications – will be voted by MEPs on Wednesday. ECR Group shadow Sander Loones welcomes the proposals which add a new category on cyber-surveillance technologies which could be used in third countries to violate human rights.
