MEPs are in Brussels this week where there will be a vote on the Vietnam trade deal in the INTA Committee and on Thursday the European Commission will present their progress on the issue of dual quality goods. Read on for more details.
EU Vietnam trade deal set for Committee vote
Tuesday: The International Trade Committee will vote on the EU-Vietnam free trade and investment protection agreement. ECR Group MEP Geert Bourgeois is Parliament’s rapporteur and stresses that - if approved - the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement would be the most ambitious trade agreement ever concluded with a developing country.
INTA - Vote @ 10:00, room P1A002
Illegal trade in pets
Tuesday: The Environment Committee will vote on a resolution on the illegal trade in pets. Every year a significant number of companion animals are illegally traded across the EU’s Member States, often by abusing the EU’s pet movement legislation. ECR shadow rapporteur Jadwiga Wiśniewska fully supports tougher sanctions, better cooperation, communication and training for customs and veterinary authorities.
ENVI - Vote @ 15:00, room 4Q2
Dual quality goods
Thursday: The European Commission will present their latest study on the issue of dual quality goods, this time focusing on the economic drivers for consumers. This is an important step towards equipping market surveillance authorities with the tools to tackle the phenomenon of dual quality goods and to enforce new rules.
IMCO - Presentation @ 9:00, 4Q1
