On Thursday, the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a closed consultation on the EU’s relationship with China, with Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the EEAS. In a statement last week, the ECR Group expressed its grave concerns about the unilateral introduction of national security legislation by Beijing against Hong Kong.

The Future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)

On Tuesday, the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture will hold an exchange of views with EU Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn. In its proposals about the MFF and the Covid-19 recovery plan presented last Wednesday, the European Commission suggested cuts to the future agricultural budget by 9 percent. The ECR Group believes the farming budget should not be cut, as yet more requirements are imposed on farmers.

Greening of Strategic Plans under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)

On Thursday, the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety is holding an exchange of views with Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski to discuss, inter alia, the greening of Strategic Plans under the Common Agricultural Policy. For the ECR, future plans should not burden any economic sector with unrealistic requirements.
