Establishing the Just Transition Fund

The ENVI Committee will hold a presentation and an exchange of views on ECR MEP Alexandr Vondra’s draft opinion on Establishing the Just Transition Fund. Mr Vondra believes additional money is needed to increase the size of the Just Transition Funds, which must be debated on during the ongoing negotiations of the next Multiannual Financial Framework. Given the current, broader political context—including the likelihood that there will be a lower investment capacity in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis—Mr Vondra believes that the EU may not be ready to pursue climate neutrality by 2050.
