Speaking at the 15th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee in Brussels, its chairman, ECR MEP Witold Waszczykowski, called for increased efforts to raise EU citizens' awareness of the need for Ukraine to join the Union as soon as possible.

“Our common task is to convince Member States and European citizens that Ukraine is not a burden but an asset and that there is no credible and viable alternative to Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration in our collective interest. Therefore, it is also our task to continue the dialogue with those who still need to be convinced - let’s not underestimate this task”, Waszczykowski said. “For Ukraine, every single day counts”

The Parliamentary Association Committee has been established to bring together elected representatives of the European Parliament and the parliament of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada. It aims to spur successful democratic and economic reforms in Ukraine and the country’s closer integration with the EU.
