Amending the revision on the Waste Framework Directive (WFD)
On Wednesday, the European Parliament’s Environment Committee will vote on the report presented by ECR MEP Anna Zalewska, addressing the revision of the Waste Framework Directive (WFD). This targeted revision seeks to expand the directive’s scope to encompass provisions related to both food and textile waste. The revision will set initial targets to reduce food waste in processing, manufacturing, retail, restaurants, and households. The ECR Group sees the WFD as a step in the right direction to limiting food and textile waste.

Adjusting the protection status of wolves must be accelerated
On Monday evening, the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee will hold a dialogue with the Commission on the current state of play regarding the adaptation of protection measures for wolves, which are no longer an endangered species. The wolf population has increased significantly in recent decades, leading to a significant increase in attacks on livestock. This poses a growing challenge to livestock farmers in protected areas. Recognising the urgency of the situation, the ECR Group is calling for the process of reviewing the protection status of large carnivores to be speeded up.
