The European Parliament’s carbon footprint; and How to be better prepared against future health threats
The European Parliament’s carbon footprint
On Monday, the Parliament’s Policy Department will present its recent study on ‘The European Parliament’s carbon footprint—towards carbon neutrality’ in the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. The study is further to a request that the ECR Group made in December 2019, in order to ascertain the CO2 emissions from the Parliament, including the two seat arrangement. The presentation will provide
an opportunity to discuss its key findings and for committee Members to give their response to these conclusions to the Committee.

How to be better prepared against future health threats
On Monday, the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will hold an exchange of views with Health and Food Safety Commissioner Stella Kyriakides on the Preparedness and Resilience Package. Published on 11 November by the Commission, this package establishes the first building blocks of a European Health Union. During the exchange of views, Commissioner Kyriakides will present a series of measures included in the package and will provide highlights on the upcoming Pharmaceutical Strategy, scheduled for publication on 30 November.
The ECR firmly believes the EU must be capable of dealing with future health crises more quickly and efficiently. Nonetheless, any new legislative measures must be in full accordance with EU Treaty provisions on public health and consistent with the principle of subsidiarity.
