Less bureaucracy, more growth

On Tuesday, the European Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs will hold an exchange of views with Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation, and Simplification. The discussion follows the publication of the Commission’s 2025 Work Programme, which introduces the ‘Omnibus’ proposal that is expected to be published on 26 February. With Omnibus, the EU aims to reduce bureaucracy and lighten the regulatory burden on businesses across Europe. The ECR Group has long warned that excessive EU regulation is suffocating European businesses, stifling growth, and undermining competitiveness. Instead of drowning entrepreneurs in red tape, the EU should be creating an environment where businesses have the freedom to innovate, expand, and create jobs. The ECR Group will question the Commissioner to ensure that these concerns are taken seriously and that real action is taken to cut excessive regulation.
