Election of committees’ chairs and vice-chairs
From Monday to Wednesday, the European Parliament’s committees will each elect a chair and up to four vice-chairs for the remainder of the parliamentary term.
EU fishing vessels in the North Pacific
On Tuesday, MEPs in the Fisheries Committee will vote on a report by MEP Bert-Jan Ruissen, that strives to allow EU fisheries access to the North Pacific Ocean.
This will create new opportunities for fishermen from EU countries. Mr Ruissen called the proposals “a welcome development”. EU fishermen are already active in the South Pacific Ocean.
The plenary vote is scheduled for February.
Vote: Tuesday @ 12:00
Holocaust Remembrance Day
On Thursday, Parliament will hold a special plenary session in Brussels on the occasion of the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer will address MEPs in the plenary chamber. For the ECR Group, it is important to bring greater attention to the fact that today Jews are increasingly subjected to persecution and discrimination. This is a dangerous development that must be countered.
