The Arctic: opportunities, concerns and security challenges

On Thursday, the Committee on Foreign Affairs will vote on the own initiative report ‘The Arctic: opportunities, concerns and security challenges’. In the opinion of ECR MEP Fotyga, Europe needs greater visibility in the arctic region, as well as more coordination at EU level and at the level of the European Economic Area, with the US and Canada, UK, Japan, Republic of Korea, India and other partners committed to securing peaceful cooperation and freedom of navigation. The EU has to make the most of possible synergies, as these will serve as the best reply to the growing Sino-Russian cooperation.

Guests will approach this issue with pragmatism, tackling the challenges of Europe’s constantly decreasing birth rates by proposing meaningful and tangible solutions to address the problem from political and legislative viewpoints.

With the participation of Ms Margarita De La Pisa Carrión, Spanish member of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, the webinar will focus on family policies and actions to combat regulations, such as those arising from the Matić report.
