ECR Bureau visit to Washington

From Monday to Thursday, the ECR Group Bureau will visit Washington, D.C. for high-level meetings with representatives of the US Administration, Members of Congress, and conservative and transatlantic think tanks. The visit will focus on deepening direct dialogue with the United States as Europe’s key strategic partner and strengthening the transatlantic partnership.

When: Monday - Thursday

Where: Washington, D.C.

Faster permits for Europe’s energy infrastructure

On Thursday, the Industry, Research and Energy Committee will vote on proposals to speed up permit-granting procedures for electricity grids, energy storage, recharging infrastructure and energy projects. Faster and more predictable permitting is essential to strengthen Europe’s energy infrastructure, improve energy security and reduce unnecessary delays to strategic investments. ECR supports cutting red tape and streamlining administrative procedures, but believes these measures must respect the principle of technological neutrality. The group therefore regrets that the final compromise does not create a level playing field for all low-carbon technologies and that some key political agreements were not fully reflected in the final text.

Competitiveness or the EU ETS?

On Wednesday, ECR MEP Anna Zalewska will host a discussion on the future of the EU Emissions Trading System, its impact on European industry and how reform can balance climate ambitions with economic competitiveness. As the European Union faces growing economic and industrial challenges, this discussion will provide an opportunity to exchange views on the future of European competitiveness and the impact of the ETS on the Unions economy. The event will focus on the challenges and opportunities created by the ETS for European businesses and industry. The event will offer a platform for an open exchange on how climate policy can contribute to, rather than undermine, Europe’s long-term economic strength and strategic autonomy.
