Commission presents EU budget 2024 proposal

On Wednesday, the Commission will present its proposal for the EU budget for 2024. The ECR Group believes that the EU should continue to show the Union’s solidarity with the people of Ukraine and respond to the related crises. The budget should be realistic and in line with real needs, including ensuring effective control of the EU’s external land and sea borders. The ECR also strongly supports EU budget contributions to finance the construction of fencing at the EU’s external borders and calls on the Commission to immediately mobilise substantial EU funds and resources to assist Member States in this regard.

Conference: The problem of genocide in the theory of international law and in the work of the European Parliament

On Wednesday, ECR MEP Dominik Tarczyński will hold a scientific conference addressing the issue of genocide in the study of international law and the work of the European Parliament in the context of the current situation in Ukraine. Since Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, the discovery of mass graves of residents in cities and towns temporarily occupied by Russia, and other evidence gathered so far, allow us to conclude that the Russian side is responsible for crimes against the civilian population that meet the criteria of the most serious crimes under international law. The invited guest speakers include academics and scientists from Poland, Ukraine, Macedonia, Norway and Georgia.
