Event: Invincible Spirit - Soviet time dissidents against Russian Imperialism

On Tuesday, ECR MEPs Prof Ryszard Legutko, Anna Fotyga and Alexandr Vondra will host a group of anti-Communist dissidents who have successfully fought Soviet imperialism in their respective countries. The humble heroes who hail from Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, including Crimean Tatars and Chechens, will express their desire for liberty and share their protest against the new wave of Russian Imperialism. The event aims to celebrate the “Invincible Spirit” of those who fought against the shadows of the past and continue to light the way towards a brighter future.

Event: Discussing escalating political repression in Russia

On Thursday, ECR MEP Witold Waszczykowski will welcome Mr Maxim Katz, a representative of the Russian Opposition Coordination Council, to discuss the situation of Russian citizens who are facing political persecution due to their anti-war dissent. Political repression in Russia is increasing at an alarming rate, especially since Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The use of new legal instruments by the Kremlin aiming to stifle anti-war voices often leads to harsh sentences for individuals who express dissenting views or criticize Russian war crimes.
