Event: Status of Nuclear Fusion Research - Timing and Development Opportunities in Europe


On Thursday, ECR Co-Chair Nicola Procaccini will host a conference focusing on the current status of nuclear fusion research in Europe, exploring both the timing and development opportunities available. The event will feature contributions from representatives of DG Energy and the Fusion Industry Association who will gather to discuss the findings of a recent report authored by Professor Piero Martin, a distinguished Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Padua. Professor Martin’s latest study examines the maturity of nuclear fusion research and its potential role in facilitating a secure, sustainable, and innovative energy transition. As Europe seeks to enhance its energy security, reduce reliance on external energy sources, and meet ambitious climate targets, this discussion is particularly timely. Event: Innovative medicines- Not for small Member States?

On Tuesday, ECR MEP and deputy coordinator on the Public Health Committee, Aurelijus Veryga will host the event “Innovative Medicines: not for small Member States?” Many EU Member States are facing growing challenges in ensuring the accessibility, availability, and affordability of costly innovative medicines. It is crucial that the European Commission takes this into consideration and provides concrete recommendations and guidance. This discussion will bring together policy experts, EU stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and representatives from pharmaceutical companies to discuss key questions surrounding healthcare equity in Europe. Event: When Negligence Kills

On Tuesday, MEPs from the ECR Spanish delegation, Nora Junco García and Diego Solier, will host the event “When Negligence Kills”, dedicated to the devastating floods of October 2024 that struck Eastern Spain. The discussion will explore the chronology of events, the perspective of civil society, and the crucial role of volunteers in the disaster response. It will also examine what could have been done differently and the ongoing search for accountability. The event will feature testimonies from volunteers, members of civil society, and those directly impacted by the negligence of the authorities, as well as voices from individuals who have taken action in the wake of the tragedy.
