Conference: Justice and Accountability for Russia’s War Against Ukraine

On Tuesday, ECR Foreign Affairs Coordinator Anna Fotyga, together with MEPs David Lega (EPP Group) and Viola von Cramon-Taubadel (Greens/EFA Group) will host a conference focusing on justice and accountability in Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.

Two years will soon have passed since the full scale, illegal and unjustifiable war of aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Those who commit crimes in Ukraine must be held accountable for their atrocious actions, either through Ukrainian judicial processes or within international mechanisms and institutions.

The aim of this international conference will be to present the legal steps already taken in this respect and to identify the current gaps and challenges facing prosecutors. In addition, the goal of the conference is to put forward policy recommendations for the next steps needed to ensure justice and continued effective cooperation between Ukrainian and international stakeholders.

The event is organised in cooperation with the International Bar Association and the Ukrainian Bar Association and will feature esteemed experts in the field of international law. Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, will open the conference.

The event will be held in room SPINELLI 3G2 from 12:30 - 15:00.
