ECR Migration Policy Group Meeting: ‘UK in Crisis?’

Dr. Matt Goodwin visited the ECR Migration Policy Group on 8 October and he argues that Britain is undergoing a historic political realignment driven by an immigration-fuelled demographic transformation that political elites refuse to confront.

He claims Britain faces both an illegal-migration crisis—marked by over a million undocumented migrants, escalating small-boat crossings, security risks, and huge taxpayer costs—and a legal-migration crisis driven by decades of mass immigration without democratic consent, fundamentally reshaping the country’s population. He highlights cultural tensions, including grooming-gang scandals, declining national cohesion, and rising rejection of British identity among some minority groups. Goodwin says these trends have shattered public trust and pushed voters toward Reform UK and Nigel Farage. His proposed fix is a radical reset: ending mass immigration, leaving the ECHR, repealing the Human Rights Act, offshore processing, strict deportations, national preference, and a heavily restricted visa system. Without such measures, he warns Britain faces social fragmentation and unrest.
