Event

Investigating Human Rights in North Korea

ECR MEP Michiel Hoogeveen and EPP MEP Lukas Mandl, together with The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK) are hosting a side-event on "Investigating DPRK Human Rights, Ten Years after the UN COI: Satellite Imagery, Lines of Responsibility, Accountability".

This side event aims to draw attention to the worsening human rights situation in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), as well as the deepening rift between the degrading human security situation of North Koreans and the continued obstinate focusing of resources not on the people, but on the development and testing of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. The event intends to emphasize the importance of continuing to address DPRK human rights, ten years after the establishment of the UN Commission of Inquiry on human rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
