The Reality of Ceuta: Told by those on the ground

On Tuesday, 15th of September 2026, MEP Diego Solier, Head of the ECR Spanish Delegation, and MEP Charlie Weimers, President of the ECR Migration Policy Group, will host an event dedicated to examining the ongoing situation in Ceuta at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

As border resilience along the Southern Neighbourhood is increasingly recognised as a critical factor in safeguarding national sovereignty, regional stability, and European security standards, the autonomous city of Ceuta stands at a pivotal juncture. Promoted by the ECR Migration Policy Group in coordination with the ECR Spanish Delegation, this event aims to foster a structured dialogue grounded in authentic, on-the-ground accounts.

The program features testimony from migration analyst Rubén Pulido, who will present first-hand material examining the political pressures driving the crisis, alongside its direct consequences for local citizens, municipal public services, and territorial integrity. Complementing this structural analysis, Antonio Gómez, journalist and founder of Ceuta Ahora, will offer a direct perspective on leading a local digital news outlet and share the daily lived experience of the city from a native Ceutí’s point of view.

Building on these presentations, an open discussion and Q&A session will allow MEPs, parliamentary staff, and guests to engage directly with the speakers on key policy implications.

Interpretation will be available in English.

When: Tuesday @ 14:30 – 16:00

Where: CHURCHILL 200, European Parliament Strasbourg
