ECR calls for transparency in key Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) files

ECR Industry, Research and Energy Committee Coordinator Daniel Obajtek will formally request that the recent decision on the distribution of major MFF-related files be put to a vote during the ITRE Committee meeting on Wednesday. Earlier this month, the coordinators of the EPP, S&D, and Renew groups decided among themselves, during informal meetings outside of the scrutiny of Parliamentary services, to allocate all major MFF-related dossiers without convening a proper coordinators’ meeting. Mr Obajtek’s request aims to ensure that the issue is brought to a public vote, restoring transparency, respect for the Parliament’s rules of procedure and respect for ITRE’s established working methods. The ECR Group considers it vital that this breach of democratic process be highlighted and subject to proper scrutiny.

Event: Convince Me – The Europe of The Future

On Friday, the ECR Group will host the first debate in its “Convince Me – The Europe of the Future” series. Organised by the ECR Group, this project invites students from Poland’s largest cities to take part in five public discussions exploring the European Union’s role today and in the years ahead. Each event features a two-hour debate divided into two parts: a 30-minute conversation between an MEP and an invited guest with an opposing viewpoint, followed by a 90-minute open discussion with the audience. The series offers a unique opportunity to gain a closer insight into how the European Union functions, explore different perspectives, and engage directly with those shaping European policy. The first debate will take place this Friday in Warsaw and will focus on “The impact of EU policies on the development of member state capitals – challenges of urban growth within the European Union.” ECR MEP Daniel Obajtek will take part in the discussion.
