Tripling Europe’s Data Centre Capacity: How CADA can deliver the EU AI ambitions

On Thursday morning, ECR MEP Diego Solier together with the European Data Centre Association will host a high-level breakfast exchange.

The exchange of views will focus on tripling Europe’s data centre capacity and the ways in which the Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA) can deliver the EU’s AI ambitions.

CADA is a landmark legislative proposal aimed at strengthening Europe’s cloud and AI ecosystem. With ambitious targets to at least triple EU data centre capacity by 2030 and streamline permitting to under 18 months, CADA is set to determine how the EU approaches digital infrastructure deployment at scale.

As the European Parliament develops its draft report on CADA, this high-level breakfast exchange on CADA will bring together policymakers from the European Commission, European Parliament and Member State Permanent Representations, alongside cloud service providers and data centre operators. The discussion will focus on the infrastructure dimensions of CADA, including the establishment of acceleration zones, the designation of strategic projects, access to energy, and how the Act can support AI infrastructure deployment through a harmonised implementation. Furthermore, the exchange will explore the key conditions Europe needs to address to deliver the digital framework required for a competitive and innovative economy

Speakers:

• Diego Solier, Member of the European Parliament, ITRE Committee Rapporteur of CADA

• Manuel Mateo Goyet, European Commission, DG CNECT, Head of Unit ‘Cloud and Software’

• Michael Winterson, Secretary General of the EUDCA

When: Thursday @ 8:00-9:30
